Since 2012, the Bloomfield Township Supervisor, Leo Savoie has led with policy and Board votes to benefit employees with very low cost healthcare premiums for a gold star plan, annual pay raises, longevity pay, up to 7 weeks vacation, a 4 day work week and for many a $30K car all paid for by the taxpayers. Did the taxpayers get to vote on these perks? No. Are the majority of Trustees “yes” votes for anything that the Supervisor wants? Roncelli, Kepes, Barnett and Schostak are aligned with Savoie rather than with the taxpayers they are supposed to serve.
Mr. Buckley and Ms. Walsh recognize the interests of the taxpayers and often vote accordingly. The continued opting out of PA 152 requiring employees to pay 20% of their healthcare premiums is serving only employees. With employees paying $192 for a family of 4 for medical, dental, vision and scripts, this is costing taxpayers $1.2M/per year or nearly $10M since 2012.
