For too long, elected leaders have spent taxpayers money with disregard for pension and retiree healthcare benefits. This carelessness is the cause of our massive debt.
More spending is not the solution. We learned this when taxes were increased in 2010. Elected official did not tighten their belt. They kept spending. Residents have seen the problem and are demanding change. The fat in department budgets must be reduced, employees must pay more for benefits, paid time off must be reduced, cars as compensation must be eliminated, new equipment purchases must be delayed, the hiring freeze must stay until the benchmarking study is complete. We have more ideas under each page of the improvements categories.
