Better Bloomfield Township (MI)
is a watchdog group of residents supporting accountability, transparency, and fiscal discipline in our community. Blind faith in elected officials has proven detrimental. Active oversight is needed to insure that Bloomfield Township remains a great place to live and work.
key concerns that require resident oversight
Fiscal Management
The fiscal management of our community remains stuck in time with outdated thinking, processes and tools. The current fiscal situation is unsustainable and we simply can’t tax our way out of the problems.
Transparency and Accountability
Transparency and accountability by our elected officials has been lacking for a long time. Transparency breeds accountability and trust and helps prevent bad behavior. “Sunlight is the best disinfectant.”
Leadership and Ethics
Many of our Township financial issues are a result of poor leadership and poor decision making. The ethics of our leaders have come into question due to the issuing of non-competitive contracts and key decisions being made without transparency and without board votes.
Accountability of Elected Officials
Due to the lack of transparency and strategic planning, it is almost impossible to hold our elected officials accountable to the promises they made to get our vote. We intend to document and hold our elected officials accountable for their actions and decisions if they want our future vote
